This course is designed to fulfill the curricular objectives of the Saskatchewan Grade 7 Social Studies curriculum. It is divided into 4 units of study, each with readings, videos, and activities of their own. Within each unit, you will be asked to complete assignments, quizzes and exams. There are also a variety of links to videos, websites, and other media provided. 36 week course.
Course Information
Unit 1 – Interactions and Interdependence
What is globalization and how does it affect Canada and our circumpolar and Pacific Rim neighbors?
Time: 8 weeks
Assessment: 5 submitted assignments, 5 quizzes and 1 unit exam
Unit 2 – Dynamic Relationships
In this unit, we will use maps to analyze human habitats and how these environmental regions can impact relationships.
Time: 10 weeks
Assessment: 8 submitted assignments, 11 quizzes and 1 unit exam
Unit 3 – Power and Authority
How are different countries governed? Who has power and authority within these countries? What do these governments look like?
Time: 9 weeks
Assessment: 4 submitted assignments, 8 quizzes and 1 unit exam
Unit 4 – Resources and Wealth
How do resources and goods get from one person to another? How do these economies impact the environment?
Time: 7 weeks
Assessment: 5 submitted assignments, 3 quizzes and 1 unit exam.
