This course is designed to fulfill the curricular objectives of the Saskatchewan Grade 5 Science curriculum. It is divided into 4 units of study, each with readings, videos, and activities of their own. Within each unit, you will be asked to complete assignments, quizzes and exams. There are also a variety of links to videos, websites, and other media provided. It is a 36 week course.
Course Information
Unit 1 – Human Body Systems
The human body is amazing! In this unit, we will look at some of the systems that our bodies have in order to keep ourselves healthy and happy!
Time: 8 weeks
Assessment: 10 submitted assignments, 9 quizzes and 1 unit exam
Unit 2 – Properties and Changes of Materials
In this topic, we'll explore materials and products that we use every day and discover how materials and products can be manufactured and changed.
Time: 9 weeks
Assessment: 12 submitted assignments, 7 quizzes and 1 unit exam
Unit 3 – Forces and Simple Machines
How can humans use forces to make our lives easier? We'll learn about forces and simple machines in this unit.
Time: 8 weeks
Assessment: 10 submitted assignments, 8 quizzes and 1 unit exam
Unit 4 – Weather
No matter where you go on Earth, weather will affect your life! Investigate how humans measure, forecast and understand the weather that is all around us.
Time: 7 weeks
Assessment: 11 submitted assignments, 3 quizzes and 1 unit exam.
