St. Thérèse of Lisieux School Policies
These guidelines help ensure the safety and smooth operation of our school community.
Student Access to the School & Parent Pick-Up
- School Hours: The school opens at 8:25 AM and dismisses at 3:10 PM. There is supervision outside and in the parking lot between 15 minutes before school starts and 15 minutes after school ends.
- Before and After Care: If you require care outside of school hours, our program through Navera is available. Sign up https://navera.org/early-learning/st-therese-before-and-after-school-program/
- Dismissal Procedures: To prevent congestion and maintain safety during dismissal, we kindly ask parents and guardians to wait in the hallways or outside near the playground instead of in the boot rooms by the doors. Students are to use their assigned doors at the beginning and the end of day.
- It is essential that all students are picked up by 3:10 PM.
- If you are unable to pick up your child, we kindly ask that you arrange an alternative plan to ensure their timely pick-up.
Parking and Traffic Updates
To prioritize safety and accommodate our growing staff, the following parking and traffic updates are in effect:
- Staff Parking: The school parking lot is reserved exclusively for staff during peak hours (8:00–9:00 AM and 2:30–3:30 PM). Parent drop-offs are not permitted in the parking lot during these times.
- Visitor Parking: Visitor spots at the front of the school are available outside restricted hours.
- Street Parking: Please use street parking for drop-offs and pick-ups, arriving early to secure a spot and adhere to traffic regulations.
- Crosswalk Safety: Students must use crosswalks when entering school grounds and avoid walking through the parking lot.
- Walking/Biking: Walking or biking to school is encouraged to reduce congestion.
- No U-Turns: As per city bylaws, U-turns are prohibited in school zones from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. This includes Olson Lane.
Extreme Weather Policy
- Outdoor recess will continue unless the wind chill reaches -25°C or lower. Please ensure your child wears proper winter clothing.
- Bus Transportation: Bus services may be canceled in extreme weather conditions (wind chills of -45°C or colder). Updates will be available on the Bus Hotline at (306) 374-4777 after 7:30 AM daily. If a bus is canceled in the morning, it will not run for the entire day.
Your cooperation is greatly appreciated. Thank you for helping us maintain a safe and positive environment for our students.
Sincerely,
St. Thérèse School Administration
