In June 2021, the federal government passed legislation to make September 30 a federal statutory holiday called the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

This day will be observed in Saskatchewan, but it is not yet a statutory holiday in Saskatchewan for employees who are not federally regulated.

St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus, commonly called the Little Flower, was a Carmelite nun in France who sought holiness in doing little things with great love. She died at age 24, was canonized a saint in 1925, and in 1997, Pope John Paul II proclaimed her a Doctor of the Church. A common belief is a "shower of roses" will fall as a sign that her prayers in behalf of the faithful are answered.
