Pre-Kindergarten

Pope John Paul II opened it's Pre-Kindergarten program in September 2023. Our Pre-Kindergarten class consists of 16 students.

Pre-Kindergarten is a free, Ministry of Education funded program, for 3- and 4-year-old children. The programming is provided by a professional teacher along with an educational assistant. A holistic approach is foundational to the program. The classroom environment focuses on play and promotes many hands-on learning opportunities. The Pre-Kindergarten program at Pope John Paul II school is half days in the mornings from Monday to Thursday with some Fridays dedicated for family engagement activities.

Families need to fill out an application for potential program placement. Due to the limited availability of Pre-Kindergarten programs within Saskatoon, children and their families are selected for the program to ensure the most vulnerable children are served. Another important criterion to note is that children that attend a licensed day-care will not be eligible to attend Pre-Kindergarten as the Ministry deems the programming to be the same (licensed day-cares provide early-learning programming as well).

Applications can be submitted to Pope.JohnPaul@gscs.ca or dropped off in person at the school office between 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday to Friday.
