Welcome to Father Vachon School
WELCOME TO FATHER VACHON SCHOOL
Father Vachon School is located in the beautiful Pacific Heights neighborhood in Saskatoon. We serve a community of about 380 students from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 8.
Our Mission Statement
Father Vachon is a community guided by God’s light and the traditional teachings of Mother Earth. We nurture relationships and embrace diversity, while fostering a love of learning.
Our Vision
As a Catholic school community, we inspire one another to follow God’s light and use our unique gifts to make the world a better place. “Clothe yourselves in compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience” Colossians 3:12
Growing in Faith & Knowledge
Our Catholic faith is living and growing. Staff and students seek spiritual growth in many ways: through prayer, Mass, liturgical celebrations, retreats, and faith instruction. We see and learn about God every school day.
We are committed to working with students and families to bring out each student’s God-given talents to see them reach their full potential. We encourage excellence and foster intellectual, physical, emotional, and spiritual learning and development.
Communication
Our school uses the online platform EDSBY to support communication between home and school. This app allows families to keep updated on school and classroom news, their child’s learning, and report absences. When you receive your email invitation, please accept the invitation and create an account. After creating the account, you may want to download the free app. When prompted about the school code – it is GSCS. If you have any difficulties, please call us.
Milk Program
We sell milk for the students to purchase at lunch time. We would prefer students to use milk cards. Students are welcome to bring cash or a cheque payable to “Father Vachon School.” You can either buy a $10 or a $20 card. Each milk carton is valued at $1.00. A family can share the same milk card.
Before & After School Child Care Program
We are ask that students arrive at school between 8:20-8:35am. Formal supervision for students begins at 8:20 in the morning. There is no supervision provided on the playground before or after school. If your child/children need to be at school prior to this time we would ask you to register them in the before & after school program through Boys and Girls Club of Saskatoon. Information and registration forms are available online at https://www.bgcsaskatoon.com/programs/before-after-school-programs
Nut & Shellfish Aware School
We have students and staff with life threatening allergies to nuts and shellfish. We ask students do not bring peanut products or shellfish to school. Thank you for helping to make Father Vachon a healthy workplace for all. If you have any questions about a food item, please message your child’s teacher.
