About Us
Principal's Message
At St. Michael Community School, we focus on faith, learning and reaching out to make a difference in our world. We strive to see your child grow in all ways: spiritually, academically, physically and socially. To grow in faith, staff and students see and learn about God not only in religion class, but throughout every school day. Academically, we are committed to helping students discover and develop their God-given talents. We believe every child can be a successful learner. Our faith-based program teaches students they have the skills, talents and responsibility to make a difference in the world, to transform it by their actions. Finally, we are committed to teaching through Metis perspectives to focus on culture and Michif language. St. Michael school is a unique and special place and we look forward to welcoming you and your child on the journey of learning and growth.

Métis Education Model
In September, 2016 we unveiled the painting of our St. Michael School Métis Education Model. The ten monthly themes are represented in and around the Red River Cart wheel. We start and finish the year with a focus on developing community
symbolized by the wheel that unites us all. October's focus is on Family symbolized by the wolf. November's focus is on Leadership symbolized by the Métis flag. December's theme is Celebrations represented by the fiddle and moccasins. January's theme is the value of Kindness symbolized by the buffalo. February's theme is Storytelling and symbolized by the eagle. March focuses on the value of Balance and is symbolized by the Red River Cart. April will focus on nature and Mother Earth and is symbolized by the bear. May is the month of Mary and the symbol is the rosary. This brings us back to our focus on community. Outside the circle are Dr. Brokenleg's themes of belonging, mastery, independence and generosity. Within the wheel are the colours of the circle of life that remind us of our grandparents' teachings. The themes will help focus our efforts to include Métis perspectives and the Michif language throughout the school. Teachers will use these themes to make curricular connections, identify resources and support school themes and celebrations.
