Boundary Changes to Aspen Ridge & Brighton Area

January 15, 2025

Dear Families,

Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools’ Board of Education has made important decisions regarding designated schools for residents of the Aspen Ridge and Brighton neighbourhoods. These changes are necessary due to the continued growth of these communities and the increasing number of families choosing Catholic education.

Until new schools are built in these neighbourhoods, adjustments to boundaries will help meet the needs of our growing student population. The construction of new schools will require approval and funding from the Government of Saskatchewan.

Currently, transportation to St. Augustine School is provided for students living in Aspen Ridge for English instruction and to École St. Mother Teresa School for French immersion.

Starting in the fall of 2025-26, all new English program students from Aspen Ridge will be transported to École St. Mother Teresa School (738 Konihowski Rd.). Aspen Ridge students currently attending St. Augustine School will be "grand-parented," allowing them to remain at St. Augustine as will any members of the same household who subsequently register in future years. They will also have the option to register, and be transported to, St. Mother Teresa.

This adjustment will allow both English and French immersion students from Aspen Ridge to attend the same school, as buses already serve the area for French immersion students.

In addition, St. Augustine School will begin welcoming new students from the Brighton neighbourhood for English instruction. Currently, Brighton students attend either École Father Robinson School or École Cardinal Léger School. However, both schools are nearing capacity. St. Augustine School was selected to serve Brighton families due to its proximity to the neighbourhood and the availability of classroom space.

We are delighted to welcome Brighton families to St. Augustine School and are confident that these adjustments will strengthen your vibrant school community. This arrangement will remain in place until a new school is built in Brighton.

If you have any questions, please contact Principal Sarah Trask who will be able to answer your questions or will direct your question to the appropriate superintendent at the division office.

Sincerely,

François Rivard, Director of Education
