BLAZE participants

BLAZE—Byzantine Leadership and Zealous Evangelization—is a program open to all high school students within Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools. Its goal is to form young leaders and missionary disciples, to evangelize and to equip with the knowledge of Byzantine Catholic tradition.

Earlier this spring (March 2 and 17) 44 participants from various schools participated in BLAZE events at Bethlehem Catholic High school and Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral of St. George. The students experienced the beauty of Byzantine Rite; were introduced to the new youth catechism We walk with Christ; listened to wonderful speakers from Saskatoon, Toronto and Edmonton; participated in a leadership activities; and were offered three ministries: serving the poor in streets; doing icon mosaic; and visiting and volunteering at St. Joseph's Nursing Home.

The outcome of BLAZE: the team of young leaders has been formed to inspire, organize and spread BLAZE next year in our high schools!

Organizers of BLAZE send a heartfelt thank you to all those who supported the program. We received the financial support from GSCS Foundation, Stephen and Michelene Worobetz Foundation, Ukrainian Catholic Brotherhood - Bishop Roborecki Branch, St. Josaphat Kunsevich Council 13129, St. Peter and Paul UCWLC, and Saskatchewan Knights of Columbus Foundation. We also thank all those who supported BLAZE prayerfully and financially. May God reward you abundantly!

Praised be the LORD!
