General Notices
Theatre Fire Exit Doors
Please note that the Fire Exit doors in the theatre are to be used for Emergencies Only. Please refrain from using these doors to exit the school. Thank you for your cooperation.
Blue School Locks
Just a reminder, to please put your blue school locks on your lockers. Please check MSS on the portal for your locker number. If there is a backwards lock on your locker, please come to the main office and we will remove it. On Sept 16th any lockers not claimed will be reassigned.
Welcome Week Scavenger Hunt for Grade 9 Student
On Friday, be sure to meet at the SRC Room in the cafeteria at the beginning of lunch to pick up your checklist. Teams that complete the scavenger hunt will earn a prize!
Grade 12 Graduating Students
Mrs. Park has been going into the grade 12 English classes this week to give a talk on what you need to be doing this year for graduation and future planning. If you have missed that class or if you are not taking an in person English class this semester, you can still get the information at Lunch on Tuesday September 17th in the computer lab Room 354. Please sign up in Student services to let us know you will be there.
Scent free School
A reminder that our school is a scent free school. Please refrain from wearing perfumes, colognes, strong body spray, etc. There are individuals who are allergic to the chemicals in these products or sensitive to strong scents.
GRADE 10 and 11 LITURGY MINISTRY
There are several opportunities for Readers during our Liturgies which will be celebrated on Tuesday, Sept 17. P2 - Gr 11s. P3 - Gr 10s. Remember that being involved in Liturgy counts toward your CAP hours if you have chosen that option. Please see Mrs. Dale ASAP if you would like to be on the Ministry Team this Tuesday. GRADE 9 ALTAR SERVERS

Library news
This is a reminder that students cannot use their cell phones in the library during class time, this also includes students on spare. You can use it in the morning, break, lunchtime, and afterschool. If you have any questions, please see Ms. Rode in the library.
Student Access to the School
The school is open on regular school days for students from 7:30 am until 4:00 pm. Families and students should arrange for their children to be picked up by 4:00 pm unless they have a planned extracurricular activity with a staff supervisor. If you do not have an extracurricular activity, you need to leave the building by 4pm. Thank you for your cooperation!
Smudging
Everyone is welcome to come to the courtyard to take part in smudging at 8:15 am on Fridays and Mondays all year.
Cafeteria
The following items will be available daily at the cafeteria:
Burgers, sandwiches, subs, wraps, baking and various snacks.
The cafeteria will open starting Thursday September 5th.
Friday Sept 13th – Perogies & Sausage

Choir
There will be a FULL CHOIR practice TODAY at lunch in the theatre.

Welcome Week September 9th-13th.
TODAY- Grade 9s will be invited to participate in a scavenger hunt style game at lunch. Details will be provided in student notices next week.
Theatre
Anastasia audition information is now posted by the theatre doors. Auditions begin next Thursday - come prepared!

SADD
There will be a meeting Thursday September 19th in Room 102 (Mrs. Gauthier’s room).
Outdoor Ed
Come to an informational meeting in room 105 TODAY at noon to talk about our fall hike to Cypress Hills.
Holy Cross Chess & Games Club
The Holy Cross Chess and Games club will have a meeting on Tuesdays at 12:15pm in room 122. We will discuss what the club will look like and when it will take place. Make sure you bring your A-game!
Holy Cross POM Team
CALLING ALL DANCERS- Have you heard? Holy Cross Pom team is going competitive! We are looking for experienced dancers to audition for our 2024/25 season. Sign-up sheets for try outs can be found outside Mrs. Newton's classroom door (133). Try outs will be held at the end of September. Hope to see you there!
Rosary Group
The Rosary Group will be meeting Mondays. Please meet in Room 241 (Lepage/Dale) right after school for some fun and fellowship making rosaries. We have all the supplies and instructions that you will need. You can count these hours for your CAP. See you there. Any questions, see Mrs. Dale.
Athletics
Holy Cross Cross Country
We are looking for students to join the Holy Cross cross-country team! If you are interested or have any questions, please see Mr. Malin in room 103. Everyone is welcome!
Time Intramural Schedule:
The North Gym and the South Gym are open during lunch hour for ALL students to participate in! This is optional and is often done on a first-come first-serve basis. The gyms will be open until 12:50 pm. ALL STUDENTS MUST BE CHANGED INTO A SEPARATE PAIR OF GYM CLOTHES AND SHOES TO BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE. All other rules that apply to regular physical education apply to participation in lunch-hour activities.

Weight Room
The Phys Ed Teachers are excited to welcome students back to the weight room!
Please note, it will be $10 to use the weight room for the year! Please see a PE teacher to purchase your wristband! We will be giving students a free week during welcome week to try out the gym! Wrist band sales will start on Sept 16th.
To use our weight room please read the following reminders:
- All students MUST change into a separate pair of gym clothes and shoes.
- Students can use the weight room at lunch and after school (while there are teachers willing to supervise).
- Students are expected to clean up after themselves and put their weights away.
- No food or drink in the weight room - only water bottles.
- Students need to sanitize any equipment used and clean up after themselves.
- There is no roughhouse, fooling around, or using the equipment improperly.
- The last student to leave should turn off the lights and close the door.
- If there are problems following the above rules, the supervising teacher has the right to ask you to leave.
- The weight room is closed by 5:00 pm for students.
The Phys Ed staff encourages you to take the opportunity to get active and fit by using our wonderful facility! The weight room is only open if you have a staff supervisor!
PE Locker Rooms
Please note the PE locker rooms are only to be used if you have PE in that period and all backpacks and binders are to be locked up or taken with you. Any items on the floor will be removed! To ensure the safety of the changing rooms, students will not be given access to the locker rooms during class. If the changing rooms are not respected, they will no longer be available during lunch. Please respect our space and keep it clean.
Jersey Sale – LAST DAY
The athletics department will be selling jerseys we no longer use for our sports teams. During welcome week the PE department will have a table set up with used jerseys for under $20!! See our table during the welcome week to claim your own retro jersey!!
Helmet Sale – LAST DAY
Holy Cross will be selling football memorabilia helmets for $20!!! See a PE staff member for your liability form and bring it back during the welcome week to claim your own Holy Cross memorabilia!! Limited stock so bring your form and money as soon as possible to guarantee a helmet! Talk to a PE teacher if you have any questions!

School Nurse
Our school nurse, Tori Meijer will be here Monday afternoons from 12:30 pm – 3:30 pm. The school nurse can help you with the following:
- Confidential one-on-one student supports with medical & health related matters.
- Referrals to other community agencies/supports.
- General first-aid
- Confidential pregnancy testing and other supports as needed.
Students can also text the school nurse at 306-230-2483. Look for the school nurse sign in the hallway and stop in to ask a question, book an appointment or to just say hello!
