Nutrien is proud to announce a contribution to the St. Frances Cree Bilingual School in Saskatoon, set to be the largest Cree language school in Canada. The $250,000 gift will directly support the development of state-of-the-art kitchen facilities at the school. This continued partnership demonstrates Nutrien’s commitment to reconciliation and the importance of supporting food security for students as they learn about Indigenous history, culture, language and identity.

“The kā asamikiwisiwak kicawāsimisinawak (Our Children Will be Fed) Student Nutrition Kitchen will support students with healthy meals, nourishing their ability to learn and grow in a culturally rich environment,” says Julie Ann Wriston, Indigenous Relations Director at Nutrien. “Nutrien’s purpose is to Feed the Future. It is our shared commitment with St. Frances Cree Bilingual School to ensure that our future leaders have the best opportunities to learn and grow. Nutrition, education, and culture coming together in this way are the building blocks that feed great minds. Nutrien has proudly been contributing to school nutrition across Saskatoon Greater Catholic Schools for more than a decade. We are grateful to play this important role and look forward to watching young minds thrive.”

The groundbreaking for the new school took place in the summer of 2023, with its opening scheduled for September 2025. The new school will consolidate the current operations at two locations in Saskatoon into one world-class learning environment, enabling social and academic success for its students. This partnership and community collaboration enables Nutrien to make a lasting impact where we live and work as a committed community partner.

“We’re very grateful for Nutrien’s generous contribution to the Student Nutrition kitchen at the new St. Frances Cree Bilingual School,” said Diane Boyko, Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools Board Chair. “For years, Nutrien has been funding school food programs so student hunger doesn’t get in the way of learning. Removing this barrier is an important part of student learning and their future success. This modern, well-equipped kitchen will enable us to prepare nutritious meals for generations of students.”
